We are taking our first family vacation as a foursome. Sir didn’t come with me and the boys to England this spring. And Sir and I have had a few nights in hotels for work, but nothing with the kids.
My family doesn’t “vacation” like other families. Our summer vacations are not road trips. If we can help it, no form of exercise is attempted. We sit in lawn chairs overlooking the lake with a beer (or soda if you’re under 21) and a book. We may get up to refresh our drinks, if we don’t have an underage child to do it for us (truly, the only reason to breed). But basically it’s just a reading marathon. There is a lot of chips-and-dip so we don’t have to stop reading to eat a full meal. Growing up, this is what I thought everyone did as a family vacation.
My mother’s family has rented a house for two weeks in the summer since the early nineties. Originally my grandparents joined us, but since they passed away my mother and her brother (and rarely her sister) will come. It’s nice to see the extended. We grill and drink a lot, it’s a good time. They have a little fair with kiddie rides and skee-ball that is a perfect afternoon. Lots of fun breakfast joints and restaurants with great fresh fish. It’s been a part of my summer since I was young and Sir and I have been going since we got married.
We missed last year because I was busy being in labor. And Sunday will be our son’s 1st birthday. I’m turning 30 in a few weeks and him turning 1 makes me feel older. But it will be great to have his party there. I know my mother will want to take him out on the seadoo, which Sir will object to (strongly), but it will be fun.
So we will have limited internet for a few days. Sir can only take a few days off right now, so we are heading home on Monday. I have a few posts lined up, but comments may take me a day or two to respond to. Sorry, but you all may take a back seat to my book. Just this weekend. Promise.
Sir has done a wonderful job on another guest post that I hope to get up in the next day or two. We’ll see if I have time to edit a photo for Sinful Sunday as well. I love the idea of the Vintage/Retro prompt, but not sure I have anything to use. And in vanilla-world, I know I won’t have time to put something together. We’ll see what I can come up with.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Hopefully Sir and I can squeeze in some kinky fun. We snuck in some toys, so fingers crossed.
